What is Pressure Seal ?

A pressure seal form is a one-piece form which, after being printed on, can be folded and sealed to create a secure document, ready for posting or distribution.

There is no need for separate envelopes, and the forms can be pre-printed with a postage paid impression, eliminating the need for franking or applying stamps.

How does it work?

Pressure seal forms have glue on specific areas of the form.  The glue is unaffected by heat or moisture, so is able to pass through a laser printer without leaving any residue.  When the printed forms are fed into a pressure sealing machine, they are folded and the glued areas are aligned against each other, before passing through the sealing rollers, which apply extremely high pressure to create a secure seal.

The sealed documents are opened by means of tear perforations, and they are tamper-evident – if the form is peeled apart, then a paper tear will occur and it cannot be re-sealed.  Pressure seal glue does have a limited shelf life, so we advise customers to order a maximum of 12 months supply at a time.

The most common type of pressure seal form is the A4 Z fold, but other fold types are available to suit various requirements, and these are described below:

Z Fold

Z Fold

The form is folded into three, in the shape of a Z giving six panels in total. It only needs to be printed on one side (simplex printing) and this gives two panels available for personalised information, plus the address panel. This is the most popular format for payslips. If printed on both sides (duplex printing), then four panels can be used for personalisation.

C Fold

C Fold

Again, the form is folded into three, but in the shape of a C. This type of fold requires duplex printing, and four of the six panels can be concealed.

V Fold

V Fold

The form is folded in half, giving four panels, two of which can be concealed. With only one fold required, this is the simplest fold configuration. It allows almost a full page for personalised information but, like the C fold, does need to be duplex printed.

What can it be used for?

The pressure seal system is ideal for many applications, the most popular being payslips and P60s.  However, other uses include the following:

  • Cheques / Remittance Advices
  • Invoices
  • Statements
  • Purchase orders
  • Library overdue notices
  • Housing Association tenant communications
  • Membership cards
  • General letters
  • Expense forms

Forms can be personalised to incorporate company colours and logo if required, or a completely bespoke form can be designed.

We currently use a dot matrix system – what are the advantages of changing to pressure seal?

  • Speeds up document processing.
  • Eliminates the tedious work of decollating and splitting continuous stationery and/or stuffing envelopes.
  • Lower stationery costs.
  • Sealed documents are letter size; lower postage costs.
  • The printed information will not fade over time.
  • Uses less paper; better for the environment.

We would be more than happy to demonstrate how pressure seal technology can provide an effective mass mailing solution for you.
